Team SARD was founded in 1985, becoming an independent company from its mother-company Sigma Automotive. Sigma participated for the first time in the 24 hours of Le Mans with their Sigma MC73, powered by a Mazda Wankel engine, becoming the first Japanese car to qualify for Le Mans. SARD or Sigma Advanced Racing Development began specializing in motorsport racing as well as producing aftermarket parts for Toyota automobiles. The greatest success in the team's history was two class wins at 24 hours of Le Mans (1993 & 1994) and the championship title in the 2016 Japanese Super GT Series. Additionally, SARD develops and manufactures a number of performance parts including turbochargers, redesigned fuel systems, cooling systems, suspension parts, and aerodynamic body kits.
